[dev update] Universe Generator Updates, Refactorings, and Fixes (WIP@60%) – Wind speed 2.0 Done

August 19 Update; Status of the work for this 0.6.18 version:

  • [WIP]  Farc Universe Generator (FUG) updates and improvements.

  • [] Weather and Geophysical System (WEAGES) implementation of a probability system, with specific data for each effect, to determine if and how a weather/geophysical effect will hit settlements, expeditions and armies.

  • [] Full overhaul of the planetary exploration system (PES).
  • [] Modifications in Conversion/Assembling/Building of infrastructures.

  • FARC Universe Generator (FUG)

    • [WIP => DONE] changes in the calculations of the Main Travel Distance for the regions of an orbital object. The reason was that calculation of polar (north-south) distance was biased and not reflected 100% reality.
    • [New: DONE] fix: correction in data assignation of the result for low orbit deltaV calculations.
    • [New: DONE] calculations for low orbit purposes: Time Window by Region for equatorial and polar orbits.
    • [NOT DEV => DONE] if a planet has a trace atmosphere, it has automatically no winds and no rainfall. Until now, satellites with like 0.158 mb of atmospheric pressure had ones.
    • [NOT DEV => DONE] complete and final overhaul on how wind speed is calculated; It is now better and each region take into account any other adjacent region. The calculations are fully fixed too.
    • [New: DONE] the calculations for the linked data to Fractal Terrains, Variance, are modified and improved.
    • [NOT DEV => WIP] the percentage of landmass, and its use for coastal/oceanic regions is implemented.
  • Universe
    • [New: DONE] fix: correction in data assignation of the result for low orbit deltaV calculations.
    • [New: DONE] add a new data, at the root data structure of the regions, to indicate the Main Travel Distance for polar regions.
    • [NOT DEV => DONE] add 4 new data, at the root data structure of the regions, to indicate the equatorial/polar distances by region. These can be useful for direct travel, and I forgot to include them.
    • [New: DONE] add a new data, at the root data structure of the regions, to indicate the surface by region for polar regions.
    • [New: DONE] add two new data for low orbit purposes: Time Window by Region for equatorial and polar orbits.
    • [NOT DEV => WIP] add a new data for each region; the percentage of land mass. By default, this data isn’t used land region. It is only used in case of Oceanic/Coastal regions, as per FUG rules.

The work on the FUG continues. Many changes and addition have already been made, and the new calculations for the new method to determine the wind speed of each region for each orbital season is fully implemented.
For information; I using the geostrophic wind approximation method and calculations that I adapted with the universe’s data structures of FAR Colony. And the result is far better than taking an abitrary reference region and calculating velocity vectors with all the others regions of a same orbital object.

What’s left to do is mainly for the regions like adding a landmass data for a better coherence in ground surface for semi-oceanic or coastal regions.

Of course the implementation of the full overhaul of the Region Environmental Modifiers will be next, with the full range of difficulties in accordance the Universal Resolution System (URES).
The redesign of them is already done in the main document.

I also need to implement a few adjustments of some data for the habitability indexes.

Once all above is done, I have a few adjustment in the process of satellites, and I have to review if the implementation of the planetoids in asteroid belts is fully done.

And that will be all for the universe generator and the first step of his 0.6.18.
