[dev notice] New Infrastructures and Production Modes + Design on WEAGES and Structural Integrity

First, the obligatory happy New Year! 🙂

Status of the work for this 0.6.17 version:

  • [WIP]  Adding assets: New Infrastructures and Production Modes.
  • [WIP] Weather and Geophysics System (WEAGES).
  • Adding assets: 2D pictures and icons.
  • Full UI standardization.

As promised I working on the design and implementation on new infrastructures entirely focused on production. The goal of the entire step is to provide any infrastructure to the player to produce most of the basic resources; the ores, food, water and oxygen. Since it touches to the production, I also working on new production modes linked to thse infrastructures.

Here is the non-exhaustive list of infrastructures that will be added in the game (infrastructures for food and oxygen production will be added):

  • Ice Crusher.
  • Nuclear Facility and Conversion Facility.
  • Ore Processing
  • Ore Smelter.
  • Vacuum Induction Furnace.

Here is the non-exhaustive list of production modes that will be added in the game (production modes for food and oxygen production will be added):

  • Carbonaceous Ore Refining.
  • Icy Ore Refining.
  • Metallic Ore Refining.
  • Rare Metals Ore Refining.
  • Uranium Ore Refining.

The fun thing is the coding of all of it is minimal; outside of the implementation of calculations and addition of data for the production modes, the main work is located at a design level and in the XML files.

I also working on the design of the WEAGES. Part of it was already done, especially the calculations for orbital moves (already done in the two previous failed attempt of the development of the game) and the progressive seasonal changes (calculations are done).
I need to complete a subsystem for the Regional Weather Effects, and by incidence I also need to complete the rules of structural integrity and upkeep of infrastructures (yep no more God mode! 🙂  ).
